Opening Night

· by Mr. Me · Theatre · 1 comment

It's opening night tonight.

Last night's dress rehearsal went pretty well. It could have gone a LOT worse. Tonight will be better than last night. And we'll have our first real audience. It will be interesting to have to pause for laughter now and again.

I also auditioned for No Time For Sargeants at the Hale Center Theater in Orem. Hopefully, I'll hear something back about that in the next few days.

Sometimes, I wonder why I do theatre at all. But when I'm actually performing in front of an audience and I hear their reactions, it makes it all worth it.

It is that reaction. It makes a huge difference. It's why I do some of the things I do. With acting, you also get to step outside of yourself for a time, step away from your problems and into someone else's, someone's problems that will be resolved within two hours. I think that is also part of why I enjoy attending theater, I get to see and, if the actors are good, feel someone else's problems instead of being consumed by my own. And by the end of the night, at least someone's problems got resolved.
