Apparently, the city of Pleasant Grove won't issue an occupancy permit for my basement until at least the dishwasher and the range are installed. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Hmmm.
So today during my lunch break, my brother and I are going to go to my house and move the range from the kitchen upstairs to the kitchen downstairs. I also happen to have a spare dishwasher, so I'll install that today as well. Then we'll get the occupancy permit that we need.
Who knew? We certainly didn't. We weren't ready to buy a new range yet. We haven't done our usual over-researching of ranges. We still don't know whether we want gas or electric upstairs. Too many things to decide! Who knows? Maybe we'll end up buying a new range for upstairs, and maybe we'll end up dragging the old one back upstairs again after inspection passes.

How does a person have an extra dishwasher? Why can I occupy my apartment if it doesn't have a dishwasher? I hate washing dishes.
And I'd go with gas. I prefer gas ranges over electric.

Well, my kitchen has an empty space for a dishwasher and since the drain for the dishwasher plugs into the garbage disposal, we can't really use the sink until that particular hole is plugged. Thus, no occupancy permit until then.
I thought EVERYBODY has a spare dishwasher. Actually I have a couple spare dishwashers that are hardly used. You want one of them to come over and do your dishes sometime? (They'd both be angry at me if they knew I just typed that.)

Okay, well, random holes are not good to have. And garbage disposals are useful, as long as the people upstairs don't put pasta and egg shells down theirs, clogging it, and having the back-up come out your sink.
Are your spare dishwashers anything like the garage door openers my parents had when I was younger? What if I provided chocolate enticement for your spare dishwashers?
