Vintage Radio
I recently got my hands on a 1950 Tube Radio made by Philco. It doesn't work, and appears not to have been used for quite some time. My son and I opened it up the other night and found it to be in pretty rough shape. There's rust here and there inside and it's very dirty. It even had a mouse nest in it behind the tuning knob. I'll post the "before" pictures soon.
I think it will be fun to get the radio working again. I found the schematic online and there are lots of people out there that restore vintage tube radios who share information freely. Interestingly enough, it's still easy to find vacuum tubes. With a bit of work, it's going to be a nice, working radio again.
It's too bad that the programming on AM radio isn't what it used to be. Maybe my next project will be to make an AM transmitter that I can use to "broadcast" old-time radio shows to the radio.
It's been a long time since I've done any "hands on" work like this. It's going to take some time, because I don't have a ton of free time on my hands, but it's going to be a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Now that sounds like a fun project. That's something I might like to try some day.
